This will be the first time I have reached out to the county membership
to ask for help on membership. Chemung County Farm Bureau is about 12
members shy of making county goal. The end of the membership year for
2010 goal is Wednesday, June 30^th . We need help getting over the
hump. We need to recruit just a few new members, and I would like to
recruit you to help us with that.
I know this is short notice, but most of us work better under these
circumstances. The best deal right now is to pay $99 and get the rest
of this year and all of next year. That is a savings of $41 ($65 + $75).
Anyone can join online at www.nyfb.org or call 1-800-342-4143 (during weekdays),
both requiring a credit card. Otherwise, you can get an application online and mail
in a check for $99, or just get the check and get basic info (name, address, phone,
e-mail, county) and get it to me, one of the board members, or mail it
to Albany. As long as the check is dated by June 30^th , or the credit
card is used by June 30th , it will count towards their goal.
So, we all know a neighbor, relative, employee, son or daughter that
have turned 22, that are not Farm Bureau members and should be. They do
not have to be a farmer, but can be someone that cares about where their
food comes from, is passionate about rural living, works in a related
industry, a hunter that needs places to hunt or wants to influence
regulations (we are the #2 hunting lobbyist in the state).
We still are the #1 ag and rural advocacy and lobbying organization in
the county, state, and nation (over 6 million members). We offer great
discounts and services. We help thousands of members a year with issues
at any level, and still derive our policies from the ground up.
Last year, Chemung County Farm Bureau was named one of the top 4 county
FB's in the state, and were #1 in their size category. We take a lot of
pride in that, and also that we make membership goal every year. So, if
you can, please try and sign up a new member over the next 5 days and
help the cause. If we don't stick together, rural New York and
agriculture are surely in trouble. Thank you.
